Councillor Leah Turner tucked in to coffee and cakes with some of the prospective residents at the Waterlooville development, which is operated by the national charity MHA which provides care and support for older people. Janice Walker, a representative from MHA, said: “We’re delighted to have welcomed Councillor Turner into our new development on Darnel Road. “Attendees loved catching up with friends old and new and it was a real treat for them to be able to chat to such a distinguished guest. We hope to host more events like this in the future – building links between residents and the community is at the heart of our vision.”
The coffee morning wasn’t the Mayor’s only chance of a sweet treat. Councillor Turner is also celebrating her 75th birthday this week, and MHA have promised to send her a birthday cake as part of the celebrations! Janice added: “We hope the Mayor enjoys our gift as much as we all enjoyed her company. On behalf of everyone at MHA: Happy birthday, Councillor Turner!” Wellesley Court, which is still in development, will be a state-of-the-art village style development for people aged 60 and above. The site will have one and two bedroom apartments, built around a host of social and leisure facilities. There will also be trained staff on hand 24 hours a day to provide care and support for residents if needed.
